First Green Bean Sighting

If you look really close, just below the white flower bud you can see a tinny, tiny green bean.
In this picture there are three in the middle of the photo. They have the left over yellow flowers on the ends of them. They are hard to see.

Fresh Salad

I decided it was time to take the lettus out of the garden and make a fresh salad for our dinner. It was very tasty and I can't wait until winter when I can plant more.

The lettus took up two squares in my garden, so I decided to plant marigolds in one square and brussels sprouts in the other. However, when I got home I learned that brussels sprouts are a winter vegetable. That's ok, I'm just going to see what happens. I may get fruit and I may not. Either way, I'll try planting them in my winter garden along with the lettus.

Week 2

Things seem to be going well in my garden. Vegetables have only been planted in the ground about two weeks and I'm beginning to see blooms on some of them. I am even beginning to see some fruits. Here are some of the photos I took yesterday:

Green Beans have some white blooms.

Photos taken on April 11th

Loaded a 1/2 yard of Pro-mix for the garden. It was definitely hard work unloading all this soil into the drive way.

Garden completed and ready for vegetables.

Completed vegetable garden.

Cucumbers, marigolds, pole beans, pumpkin, cantaloupe, watermelon, and strawberries.

Jalapenos, red bell peppers, tomato, cauliflower, and lettus.

Welcome to Woodall's Gardening

I am starting this blog to journal about my vegetable gardening experiences and to gain knowledge from those of you who read/comment on my post. I will try to post weekly updates on my garden and photos to go with it.

I started gardening last year in pots with jalapenos, cilantro, flat-leaf parsley and strawberries. They all worked out so well that I decided this year I would try an above ground garden. My garden is 8'x2'x10". I currently have planted in it: lettus (butter crunch), cauliflower, strawberries, watermelon (black diamonds), cantaloupe, pumpkin, cucumber, pole beans (green beans), marigolds, jalapenos, and red bell peppers. I have tomatoes (carnival), cilantro and flat-leaf parsley all growing in pots. I will post some photos shortly.

Thank you for taking the time to read my entries and any useful comments are welcome.
